A staple in the heart of Cleveland, the Bourbon Street Barrel Room. This authentic Cajun Creole inspired restaurant transported me to the streets in New Orleans filled with vibrant decor, tasty food, and lively music. Walking into the restaurant the first floor is filled with low lit lighting and a fun opening to the second floor. The bar is filled with smiling people and customers laughing. You can see the heart for the lovely culture and the delightful food.
We were seated upstairs, overlooking the street from the large, antique french doors.
We started off our meals with alligator bites, sweet potato fries, and the famous hush puppies. The alligator bites were impeccable paired with the hot sauce. They were small, but fried perfectly and had a tangy taste with the hot sauce. The sweet potato fries (one of my favorites), were thinly sliced and fried to golden brown. Our last appetizer, the hush puppies were amazing. The fried golden brown crust was the perfect crunch and the inside was warm and to die for. The hush puppies are a staple no one can skip.
For the main course I was in between the Gumbo and the Jambalaya. I went with the Jambalaya, and I was very glad. The rice was cooked to perfection with the sausage and chicken. The rice was the perfect wet texture, and added to the juicy tender chicken, and the tangy sausage. This dish was delightful, authentic, and flavorful.
If you are in Cleveland I recommend you stop at this amazing restaurant and be transported to the streets of New Orleans. The food is amazing, the staff is lovely, and the decor is lively. Who knew Cleveland was the new New Orleans?
